HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access)

By

Rating

HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) applies the basic technological advances used in HSDPA (its downlink equivalent) to the data upload process. Both HSUPA and HSDPA, often referred to jointly as HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) are 3G technologies based on the WCDMA architecture, itself an enhancement of CDMA. HSUPA was not released until well after the introduction of HSDPA, but offers significantly increased uplink speeds, as well as enhanced overall performance.

HSUPA is utilized by CMDA-based carriers Sprint and Verizon. It is roughly equivalent to the enhanced GSM network EV-DO Rev. A.
