Using a phone while driving is, for many, an essential form of multi-tasking. It's dangers, however, are clear; to fumble with your phone while behind the wheel is to put yourself and others at great risk. Bluetooth significantly reduces that distraction--and the risk it entails--by taking your hands out of the equation. A number of options exist for integrating your Bluetooth-equipped phone with your car, all of which will enhance the safety and ease of your driving experience while also optimizing a number of your phone's other features:

Bluetooth Speakerphones are a simple and convenient way of amplifying your conversation without an FM transmitter. In-Car Speakerphones tend to feature an array of features designed to compensate for road noise and maximize voice clarity, and will typically play music, amplify GPS directions, and allow for multiple phone connections. FM-Transmitters are sometimes included in Bluetooth Speakerphones, but are also available as separate units, most often in the form of a windshield, visor, or dashboard mount. As their name suggests, FM-Transmitters send your phone's signal through an FM frequency that can be played through a car radio. Traditional Mounts allow you to utilize your phone's built-in speakerphone in the most convenient position possible. Mounts are available with and without built-in charger connections, and are ideal for utilizing a smartphone's GPS abilities.

A number of options exist for integrating your Bluetooth-equipped phone with your car, all of which will enhance the safety and ease of your driving experience while also optimizing a number of your phone's other features. Here, we'll look at the three main ways of integrating your phone with your car's interior:

Bluetooth Speakerphones are a simple and convenient way of amplifying your conversation without an FM transmitter. In-car speakerphones tend to feature an array of features designed to compensate for road noise and maximize voice clarity, and will typically play music, amplify GPS directions, and allow for multiple phone connections. A number of designers have also begun offering solar speakerphone models, designed to take advantage of the high levels of natural light that pass through a car's windshield.

FM-Transmitters are sometimes included in Bluetooth Speakerphones, but are also available as separate units, most often in the form of a windshield, visor, or dashboard mount. As their name suggests, FM-Transmitters send your phone's signal through an FM frequency that can be played through a car radio. The mount will typically include a built-in microphone to provide high quality, convenient reception of your own voice, most often with some form of echo-reduction technology to prevent feedback and distortion.

Traditional Mounts allow you to utilize your phone's built-in speakerphone in the most convenient position possible. Mounts are available with and without built-in charger connections, and are ideal for utilizing a smartphone's GPS abilities.
